A selective school of excellence
The first year at North Sydney Boys' High School provides an
opportunity to study a broad range of subjects, preparing the student for a
successful high-school career. Students undertake subjects across all areas of
the curriculum, often staying within the same class group, helping with the
transition to high school. Year 7 also provides a taste of five of the languages
offered at the School - French, Indonesian, German, Japanese and Latin - in
succession, not only introducing the student to the relevant language and
culture but also providing a solid base for further study in one or two
languages in Year 8 and the years to follow.
Information and communication technology (ICT) skills are increasingly important in today's world, and Year 7 students benefit from the School's IT facilities immediately. ICT skills and knowledge are covered in most subject areas, as well as dedicated ICT classes held within the framework of the Design & Technology subjects.
The students participate in the Year 7 Camp early in Term 1, providing an opportunity to develop friendships and become acquainted with their Peer Support leaders. Dozens of Year 11 students serve as Peer Support Leaders in the first Term of the year, helping Year 7 students adjust to high school.
Students in Year 7 study the following subjects:
