Falcon Foundation

The Falcon Foundation was established in co-operation with the North Sydney Boys High School Parents and Citizens Association, the School Council, the Old Falconians Union and the Auxiliary. The Falcon Foundation is a permanent, non-profit organisation.

The aims of the Foundation are:

To further the advancement of education at North Sydney Boys' High School
To provide resources beyond those supplied by the NSW Department of Education and Training
To provide facilities for sports and physical training
To provide scholarship, bursaries and prizes
To provide facilities for aesthetic and creative pursuits
To establish a capital fund to undertake required building programs

Projects

Through the incredible generosity of the school community the following AF Henry Hall projects have been completed:

Construction of the mezzanine floor
Installation of the magnificent ceiling
Sddition of shutters to the western windows
Installation of the ventilation system
Upgrade of the stage and back stage area
New stage curtains
Renovation of the women’s toilets
The new northern entrance

Another project that has been funded by the Foundation is the conversion of the old toilet block on the western lawn into a Senior Common Room, the Pavilion, and barbeque area.

The next major project will be the science laboratory refurbishment program. The first is being funded by the Department of Education and Training and the next have been proposed as a jointly funded program between DET and the Foundation.

The Foundation provides funds for projects selected by the School Council. The major project launched in 2000 is the refurbishment of the A.F. Henry Hall, the central meeting place and principal cultural and social hub of the school. This project will upgrade the school's assembly hall to meet a set of objectives:

Provide space for some 200 additional seats so that all students and staff can be accommodated.
Refurbish internal finishes, including replacement of the ceiling
Address deficient acoustics
Provide adequate ventilation, heating and cooling systems
Improve stage function
Improve and increase toilet facilities
Provide additional rehearsal space

School Council believes that this vital project is unlikely to receive assistance from the NSW Department of Education and Training as it will not be regarded as a priority. While the Foundation has adequate funds to cover the design phase, to be completed by October 2000, specific financial planning and fundraising will be needed in order to proceed with construction. The design brief requires that the project be designed for construction in stages to allow for flexibility in the financial arrangements.

- Secure storage facility for musical instruments

- Environmental Research Laboratory for Science block
- The Foundation is developing a database of former students with the intention of re-opening communication with as many as possible. A small group of parents is currently helping with this enormous undertaking and the Foundation appeals to former students contact the School to assist.

Membership

Membership is open to all with an interest in the school - individuals, families, companies and groups are all eligible. To qualify, supporters make specific donations to the Foundation either on an annual or lump sum basis and are acknowledged as members at the appropriate level as specified in the constitution.

Donations - Tax Deductibility

In view of the current needs for the Hall Project, the Foundation encourages supporters to make tax-deductible donations to the Falcon Foundation Building Fund. Donations may also be made to the tax deductible Library Fund or the non-tax deductible General Fund.
